This morning, 11 young scientists arrived on campus to begin the 11th summer of Waterstart camps at BIOS. After a bit of review in Clark Lab, the students hopped onto Polaris, our trusty boat, to Cooper's Island. Snorkeling, swim tests and safety reviews were met with enthusiasm in the cool Cooper island waters. "I saw the biggest fish ever!" one student remarked after spotting a midnight blue parrot fish while snorkeling. The students were so comfortable in the water that we had time to explore the Pelinaion ship wreck near Castle Harbor. It was a beautiful day for the students to get their flippers wet and ready to start SCUBA diving tomorrow.
